Fire resistance classes
According to standard EN 13501-2, a wide range of Fire Resistance classes E, EI, REI is possible. The most requisite Fire Resistance classes in Europe are EI 30 = 30 minutes, EI 60 = 60 minutes and EI 90 = 90 minutes. EI 60 and over can only be reached with stone wool cored panels.
REI classes are tested with additional loads similar to roof panels.
The Fire Resistance of sandwich panels can be assessed for building systems with wall panels installed vertically or horizontally for ceiling panels and for roof panels.
The Fire resistance of sandwich panel systems relies on a complex mix of factors including:
- optimum joint design,
- a dedicated installation format which must be meticulously implemented on site
- high performance ROCKWOOL insulation core products
- the thickness of the sandwich panel
- the density of the core insulation.
