Product safety

Using Rockwool stone wool is a safe way to save energy, heating & cooling costs. A warm and dry living space is essential for our health. For thousands of years, cold and damp buildings have jeopardised the health & lives of our ancestors. They remain to do so for many contemporary citizens. Better insulation has improved the quality of life for millions of people in the rich world. And today many people take a warm, dry home for granted.

Stone wool has been used for more than 60 years. It has proven itself as a popular and safe insulation material and is probably one of the most well-documented and tested building materials.

Correct use

It is our policy to inform our customers how to handle our products correctly. Read more of recommended work practices. Rockwool Sandwich Panel can also provide you with instructions and material safety data sheets in your language that help you to correct usage.

World Health Organisation

Stone wool is a safe material to work with. This fact is supported by the decision of the World Health Organisation's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) to exempt stone wool from its list of "possibly cancer causing agents". This conclusion was based on the fact that epidemiological studies provide no evidence of an increased risk of lung cancer from occupational exposure to stone wool fibres, and that there has been no excess of tumours in long-term inhalation studies.
